The 3-hour trek is a great opportunity to experience the smallest national park in the Idukki district adjacent to Dindigur in Tamil Nadu. The elusive, critically endangered and important endemic small carnivore Nilgiritten belongs to this region. Leopards and Indian wild dogs are sometimes sighted at dusk and dawn. Tigers are important animals in the park. Elephants, buffalo, lion-tailed macaques, gaurs and nilgiri langurs are also residents of the park. Some notable birds seen here are the Nilgiri wood pigeon, the white-bellied pacifier, the hanging parrot in spring, the blue rock thrush, the blue-capped thrush, the nilgiri flycatcher and the black-and-orange flycatcher.
